Here's what I have read recently/am currently reading:
Recently:
"Under The Dome," by Stephen King (I know, I know . . . but King does commercial fiction better than anyone, and I wanna figure out how to sell books)
"Olive Kitteridge," by Elizabeth Strout (2009 Pulitzer Prize Winner—a series of connected short stories that's highly instructive for anyone attempting such a foolish thing)
"Next," by James Hynes (ruminations of a 50-year-old horny man-boy in the age of terrorism with a socko ending—the last 50 pages are devastating)
"Horns," by Joe Hill (what happens if you wake up one morning with devil horns growing out of your forehead?)
Currently:
"The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet," by David Mitchell (pre-publication edition of the new novel by the crazy genius who wrote "Cloud Atlas")
